![]() George Hemingway Isom is a graduate of the City College of New York (B.A, M.A.1965,1971), Teachers College, Columbia University (M.ED.1972), and the University of Iowa (Ph.D.1980). He earned a certificate in the Urban Study Program for Teachers from La Guardia Community College 1992-93. He taught in the public schools of New York City and at the University of Iowa. Dr. Isom served as Dean of Boys at Intermediate School 38, South Bronx, NY, Coordinator of the Black History and Culture Program, Community School District 7, South Bronx, NY, and Manager of the Long Island Regional Title 1 ESEA Office of the New York State Education Department, Albany, NY. He was a member of the editorial board of Buckingham Learning Corporation for which he wrote: Martin Luther King Jr.: Apostle of Nonviolence and Marcus Garvey: Father of Black Nationalism (1970-71). Dr. Isom is listed in the 1990 edition of Who's Who Among America's Teachers. He lives on Long Island with his wife, Jeanne, and their cat, Chloe.
